Baba Saheb Ambedkar Education University (BSAEU), formerly known as The West Bengal University of Teachers' Training, Education Planning and Administration (WBUTTEPA), was established by the Government of West Bengal under the West Bengal Act XXI of 2014 and became operational in 2015. It is the first state university in India established exclusively for teacher education, training, planning, and administration. Rechristened in June 2022 in honour of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, the university serves as the apex regulatory and affiliating body for approximately 200 teacher education institutions across West Bengal, while directly running undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programmes including B.Ed., M.Ed., and Ph.D. at its main campus (incorporating the historic David Hare Training College campus).
