Jamia Hamdard is a premier Deemed-to-be University established in 1989 under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, tracing its origins to a small Unani clinic founded in 1906 by Hakeem Hafiz Abdul Majeed and later established as Hamdard Tibbi College in 1963 by Padma Bhushan Hakeem Abdul Hameed. The institution is known for its interdisciplinary convergence of conventional and traditional systems of medicine alongside advanced sciences, engineering, and humanities.
