Kalasalingam Academy of Research and Education (KARE), formerly Arulmigu Kalasalingam College of Engineering (established in 1984 by Kalvivallal Thiru T. Kalasalingam), was conferred Deemed-to-be-University status under Section 3 of the UGC Act 1956 in 2006. Located in Krishnankoil in the foothills of the Western Ghats, KARE offers multidisciplinary undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programmes spanning Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Agriculture, Basic Sciences, Commerce, Management, and Law. The institution is recognized for pioneering India's first specialized B.Tech programme for speech and hearing-impaired students and houses research-driven facilities, including the DST-supported Kalasalingam Technology Business Incubator (KTBI).
